The event drew an enthusiastic crowd, featuring a diverse lineup of players, including Black Stick Brad Shaw, multiple Regional Premiership veterans, a couple of SBHS teachers, and even parents of current students. Notably, Old Boy Danie Beukes made a remarkable commitment, flying in just for the match and arriving in Christchurch at 1:30 AM to participate.
