Ngā Manu Kōrero 2026

Our tauira achieved outstanding results at the Waitaha Ngā Manu Kōrero 2026 competition, showcasing excellence in both Te Reo Māori and English oratory.

  • Junior English Tā Turi Carrol: Felix McVeigh placed 2nd overall.

  • Junior Māori Rāwhiti Ihaka: Hami Hanara placed 3rd overall.

  • Senior English Korimako: Maio Taratoa-Bannister delivered an exceptional performance, winning both the Impromptu and Prepared Speech sections to be crowned the Senior English Korimako Champion. Maio will now represent our school at the National Ngā Manu Kōrero September 22nd – 24th 2026 in Kaikohe.

  • Senior Māori Pei Te Hurunui Jones: Pumau Tana placed 3rd in Impromptu Speaking, 2nd in the Prepared Speech section, and 3rd overall in the Senior Māori competition.

These outstanding individual achievements contributed to an historic milestone for our kura, with our school being awarded 1st Overall School winning the Te Pae Kākā trophy. This marks the first time a mainstream school has achieved this honour.

Congratulations to Felix, Hami, Maio, and Pumau for their dedication, courage, and excellence on the stage. You have represented our kura with immense pride and distinction.
