From its humble beginnings in 1957, Shirley Boys’ High School has stood as a beacon of excellence and camaraderie on the eastern side of Christchurch. Named after the historical Shirley district, our school was built on what once were lupin-covered sandhills, transforming into a place where students not only receive education but also build lifelong relationships and a robust network of professionals.

As an integral part of this legacy, the Alumni Association keeps the spirit of Shirley Boys’ alive and thriving. Our association is more than just a network; it is a family that supports its members throughout their personal and professional lives. We pride ourselves on nurturing these connections through regular reunions, mentoring opportunities, and continuous engagement in various cultural and sporting activities that echo the school’s rich tradition.

We celebrate a history of strong leadership and innovative education, from our foundation headmaster, Charles Gallagher, to our current headmaster, Tim Grocott, who is also an alumnus of the school. Our aim is to foster a community where former students can contribute to the school’s legacy, share their achievements, and provide support to the new generation of students embarking on their own journeys.
